FTA continues to set the standard with new Jet Orientation Course

NEWS RELEASE

We are very excited to announce that with immediate effect, we will upgrade our Multi-Crew Cooperation Course (MCC) to include Jet Orientation (JOC) & Airline Readiness Training.

The change is a direct response to customer and market demand as recruiters increase their expectations of airline-specific skills, knowledge and terminology.

The new MCC/JOC and Airline Readiness training comes at the end of a student’s commercial pilot training and aims to prepare them for a career as a First Officer. The training will be seamlessly integrated into FTA’s Flight Deck Programmes which are already proving so popular, that they are getting booked up 12 months in advance. Should it be required, the MCC/JOC can be upgraded to enhanced APS (Airline Pilot Standards), an EASA qualification that is recognised as highly desirable by Europe’s major airlines.

The MCC/JOC or APS MCC course will be delivered by FTA’s new training partners Jet MASTERCLASS; a leading training provider who are recognised for their high-quality, customer-focused training with strong ties to airline management teams. Jet MASTERCLASS support various UK airlines with pilot recruitment and offer an unrivalled MCC/JOC and APS MCC course that focuses on developing the highest standards of manual raw data flying, pilot competencies and behaviours.

All of the MCC/JOC and APS MCC training will be delivered by highly skilled Boeing instructors with extensive airline experience on a high-fidelity fixed-base B737-800W simulator, at the Jet MASTERCLASS training facility near London Gatwick Airport.

FTA focus all their teaching and instruction on ensuring that students possess the knowledge and skills to become the best pilot they can be, the additional training they will receive as part of the new MCC/JOC will add an extra layer of essential skills, required by the changing demands of the travel industry.

Students enrolled on FTA’s Integrated Flight Deck Programmes (known as integrated training) will benefit from the following MCC/JOC course benefits:

• ten training days (typically scheduled Mon-Fri)

• 20 hours of practical training (10 x PF, 10 x PM) on a B737-800W fixed-base FTD

• 33 hours of theoretical training (MCC, JOC + airline readiness)

• Printed training manual and progress tests

• iPad use during the course

• Gym access and shower facilities

• Lounge, library, free WiFi

• Free tea/coffee/water

The training above is included on all integrated courses and is available to modular students. Those pilots that wish to place an increased focus on airline-specific training will have the opportunity to upgrade their MCC/JOC to include Airline Pilot Standards (APS) known as their elitePILOT programme.

By completing the enhanced APS MCC, pilots are exposed to training that is focused on developing the highest standards of manual raw data flying, pilot competencies and behaviours.

FTA’s Head of Training, Phil Jones said: “This partnership with Jet MASTERCLASS seems very natural. Our companies share the same vision to make pilot training as accessible as possible to all, while also maintaining the highest levels of teaching and facilities and a fully integrated course from zero experience to the right-hand seat of a commercial aircraft. We know that the team at Jet MASTERCLASS will warmly welcome our students and receive support and instruction that is second to none”.

Robert Bleker, Jet MASTERCLASS Director & Accountable Manager, states:

“We are delighted to be joining forces with FTA Global and offering a high-quality MCC/JOC or APS MCC extension to their already high-quality integrated or modular Flight Deck Programmes. We are two companies that share a single vision for training. That is to provide the highest quality products at an affordable price, making the dream of becoming an airline pilot both accessible and achievable.

We have found the team at FTA to hold the highest possible values for safety and best practice, with an unwavering commitment to ensuring their students’ success and well-being are central to the ethos of their organisation. We hold those very same principles central to our organisation and look forward to growing a strong and lasting relationship with FTA that continues to feed industry with highly resilient, skilful and dynamic airline pilots.”

Frank Jukes, Director & Head of Training at Jet MASTERCLASS explains more about the additional benefits their APS MCC course offers trainee pilots, interested in a career with an airline:

“For those pilots seeking a competitive edge in today's fiercely competitive airline recruitment market, APS is fast becoming the 'gold seal' course recognised by airline recruiters as the strongest possible lead-in to your first multi-pilot jet type-rating. FTA’s APS MCC course is delivered on a high-fidelity fixed-base B737-800W simulator operated by Jet MASTERCLASS at our training facility near London Gatwick airport. The course also includes an element of full-motion training on a B737-800 FFS device.

Our APS course seeks to develop a wider appreciation for jet aerodynamics and handling, management of complex non-normal situations and advanced airline scenarios. The 20 additional flying hours (including FFS) are designed to develop a pilot’s handling ability and flight deck management to the levels expected of a qualified line pilot.

Students will operate in adverse weather conditions, low visibility operations, manage different cabin scenarios and polish their PAs to perfection.”

The APS MCC course includes the following:

  • 15 training days (typically scheduled Mon-Fri)
  • Final check (required to be completed to EASA test standard)
  • 38 hours of practical training (19 x PF, 19 x PM) on a B737-800W fixed-base FTD
  • 2 hours of practical training (1 x PF, 1 x PM) on a B737-800W full-motion FFS
  • 43 hours of theoretical training
  • Printed training manual and progress tests
  • iPad use during the course
  • Gym access and shower facilities
  • Lounge, library, free WiFi
  • Free tea/coffee/water
  • Free graduate access to our online 737 systems CBT
