This will come as good news to UK-based students who are required to complete acclimatisation flying and the IR skill test in an EU member state for the issue of an EASA licence. With the world in the grips of a pandemic, sourcing and travelling to flight schools abroad could understandably prove quite unsettling for some, however the proximity of EU airspace to our base at Brighton City Airport has made completing the acclimatisation flying and IR skill test in EU airspace straightforward, without ever spending a night away from British soil.
We are pleased to announce that we will freeze the price of our modular training for all ab initio students who embark on their PPL this year.
- First course start date is 22 February 2021
- Start this month and complete your training this Spring
- All graduates will have the opportunity to interview for a role at FTA
We are pleased to announce the launch of Flight Instructor training this month. This the third addition to an already broad range of flight training programmes.
Flight Instructors are sought after by airlines and schools. The rating is popular with those that enjoy teaching, have a passion for flying and like the stability of a Monday to Friday rota. Your first opportunity to enrol in 2021 is 22 February, and the flight training is delivered over a four day week with additional self study.
Train for a job you love - every day
Tom, an advanced flight instructor at FTA explains what he loves about his job: 'I feel so lucky to be paid for what feels more like a hobby, than a job. I get to share my passion for flying on a daily basis with like-minded students and I’m constantly learning whilst gaining experience.’
We have 15 years experience of delivering commercial flight training, during which we have built a reputation of excellent teaching standards and student satisfaction. The new instructor course reinforces the company’s position as a world-class provider of UK-based programmes.
Sean Jacob, Managing Director for FTA Global, explains why he’s excited about the launch:
Starting a new job can be daunting at the best of times. How about start a new job, in a new industry, during a global pandemic?
This is exactly what our new intern Lottie did last year. after her work placement in Sydney Australia was cancelled (due to Covid-19 travel restrictions).
Lottie was originally destined for Sydney Australia, but when her university plans couldn't go ahead in 2020 she explored her options and applied for an internship with FTA.
The rollercoaster of lockdowns over last 12 months may have meant a hiatus in your dreams. With the industry expecting a recovery over two years and the training taking the same length of time, it is time for change.
Apart from a brief closure in 2020, our flight school has remained open and operational throughout the pandemic. With everyone's social calendars on hold as we start 2021 (and therefore a significant lack of distractions) we think that the time for enrolling with the right flight school is now.
Our full-time programme, an EASA Integrated Flight Deck Programme (FDP), takes two years to complete and starts with theoretical instruction. ATPL Theory at FTA Global is like nothing else in the industry. Outside of instructor-led lessons you will access computer-based training and online books to support with self study. Last year we extended the study period to improve subject comprehension and ensure high results.
"I was really pleased with my results and have finished ground school with 14 first-time passes and an overall average of 91%."
It worked. Our ATPL classes continued throughout 2020 using this software, and our students successfully completed their exams with high pass rates and averages, despite the pandemic. The first module of 2021 is being delivered using Microsoft Teams, a video conferencing software, and our plan is to bring everyone on site as soon as it is safe to do so.
