Life as an intern during a global pandemic
Starting a new job can be daunting at the best of times. How about start a new job, in a new industry, during a global pandemic?
This is exactly what our new intern Lottie did last year. after her work placement in Sydney Australia was cancelled (due to Covid-19 travel restrictions).
Lottie was originally destined for Sydney Australia, but when her university plans couldn't go ahead in 2020 she explored her options and applied for an internship with FTA.
What is it like to work as a ground school instructor?
We interviewed Matt, who has recently joined FTA instructing the ATPL Theory. Popular and enthusiastic Matt has wasted no time in making the role his own. Not long out of university, it could be daunting for a recent graduate to standing in front of a class of 15 or 20 students explaining the principles of flight such as lift augmentation or aerodynamic limitations. Still, he loves it: “I like to know I’m helping others understand and revise the content, it’s a great feeling”. He explains his gratitude for finding a role that enables him to continue with learning and progressing his aviation knowledge. Competition winner Charlie, shares his excitement at winning a flying lesson
We recently ran a competition with the chance to win a free introductory flying lesson in FTA's DA40 aircraft, and we are thrilled to announce that Chichester-based Charlie was the lucky winner. Charlie is an aviation enthusiast and keen to train to become a commercial pilot one day. He's already visited his list of pilot schools and we are pleased to hear that FTA is one of his top choices. Charlie was understandably excited about his flight which was delivered by Nidal. Here he talks about his flight and what he learnt from the experience.
